Super Family!

We are in Superhero world. Caleb has begun a regular battle with me every morning. He is determined to wear his superman clothes under his regular clothes. "But Mommy," he said yesterday, "I cannot tear off my clothes to save anyone if I don't wear them underneath." At the moment our most appropriate discipline is to simply tell him he is not acting like a superhero, and he breaks into tears. He told me he has secret super powers. If I could have one superhero power, it would simply be surviving the grocery store. Thank God for His grace.

Catching a Moment

I was in a grumpy mood when I came downstairs this week to find Caleb kissing Daniel on the head. I stood on the stairs and watched as he did this over and over. Then Caleb looked up at me and smiled. "Daniel loves me so much, Mommy," he said.

We've been juggling and trying to find a pace. Teresa emailed several quotes this week, and one caught my eye. I honestly can't remember where they are from. "How wonderful it is to walk in God's peace before I see his provision." That's where I long to be.

The Five of Us!

Hi all! Daniel arrived around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. He was 6 pounds and 11 ounces, 20 inches. We are doing well, and the big brothers are SO proud. Thank you for all your prayers and love over the last year. We are so blessed to have a covenant family like you.

"Come thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace. Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it, Mount of God's redeeming love."

It's Time!

I've been slow, but with good reason. Our doctor plans to induce me Wednesday morning. Please pray for us as we rest in the Father and delight ourselves in Him. The boys are so excited about Daniel's arrival, though it may be because they look forward to going to Mimi's for a week. But we are so excited also about meeting our newest son who God has knit together for His glory and purpose. We'll keep you posted.



On another note, please pray for Benjamin. He will going with me to have some tests run at Children's Hospital in the morning. They are some follow-ups for some previous abnormal results.

First Weekend of Football!

Friday, I entered the elevator at the doctor's office. A woman looked at my stomach, smiled and said, "How sweet. This must be your first."

I smiled and replied, "Actually it's my third."

Her face changed to something I've come to recognize, as she said, "Well, so this is probably your last."

"We're actually going for 10 in 10 years," I replied, "but we're running about six months behind. I smiled and walked quietly walked off the elevator.

No, it wasn't the dream "Christ-like" response. It was a reply from a 36-week pregnant woman, who looked for a parking place for 30 minutes to sit in the doctor's office for five. But it did get me thinking about how often people's faces change from joy to sympathy, simply over how many children I have. Then, I began to wonder if that is also a message I communicate through my actions and interactions with others. Because if I'm honest, there isn't a greater joy the Father could give me, than what I am doing now.

Happy Birthday to Benjamin!

Today we celebrated God's faithfulness in our lives. Two years ago Benjamin was born, and one year ago we celebrated his first birthday. As he is now kicking and screaming his way out of bed, it was exactly a year ago when I held him after he first became sick. We're so grateful our lives don't go according to our plans because if they did, we would have missed so many hundreds of moments to see the face of God this past year. When we've felt fear grow so often, we've turned daily to find you, our covenant family, holding us up, and we've seen Jesus in you.
